CV/Bio
Harold Griner
Painting full time since his retirement in 2003 from a newspaper advertising/marketing career, Harold has sought to capture visual moments that evoke our memories and emotions in his native Florida… and beyond. This process began at an early age and is the driving force behind his work. His chosen medium is watercolor and he seeks to share his love of the land and it’s people with those who view his paintings. The feeling or sense of “having been there” is a frequent viewer comment and is very gratifying to the artist.
Harold holds signature memberships in the Florida Watercolor Society and the Tallahassee Watercolor Society. He is also a member of the Gadsden Art Center & Museum, and an associate member of the American Watercolor Society.
Just a few highlights of his long list of prestigious awards include first place in the Art in Gadsden Regional Exhibit of Fine Art in 2004, second place in the Tallahassee Watercolor Society Tri-State Exhibit in 2007, the Florida Watercolor Society Societies Award in 2009, the Gold Award at the Tallahassee Watercolor Society Brush Strokes Exhibit in 2012 and again in 2013, the Citrus Watercolor Club Memorial Award, The M. Graham and Company Award, and the Ampersand Award all conferred to him by the Florida Watercolor Society in 2012, first place in the Art in Gadsden Regional Exhibit of Fine Art in 2015, and the Tallahassee Watercolor Society Tri-State Bronze Award in 2018.
He was awarded a Solo Art Exhibition titled “Southbound” at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts - Valdosta, GA in September/October 2014, and another Solo Exhibit titled “Catch the Tide” at the LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts, Tallahassee, FL in September/October of 2016.
Harold was born in Gainesville, Florida in 1947. He received his B.A. in Art/Advertising Design from Florida State University in 1969.
